George James Boyd Obituary

George James Boyd, 81, of Plymouth Meeting, PA. passed away on March 27, 2024, when a car tragically struck him. His loss was completely unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened. George was born on January 18, 1943, to George and Frances (Gallagher) Boyd in Fairview Village, PA. He was one of nine children: The late Patricia (Joseph) Vargo; Richard (Roseanne); the late William (Allison); late Joseph; the late Claire (Larry) Carrington; the late Thomas (Nancy); Michael (Marianne); Geoffrey (Margaret).

George loved the togetherness a large family created. George married his sweetheart Vivian Corrao on September 21, 1963, and soon after, took a job at Alan Wood Steel Co. The couple moved to Norristown, PA and began to build a life and family together. George was father to Thomas (Tara); Elizabeth (John) Zaleski; late Wendi Ann Boyd; Melanie (Glen) Guerrette; Nicole (Dan) Boyd-Hayes; Kristoffer (Kristen); Kyle (Lisa). The family later moved to Plymouth Meeting, PA, where George and Vivian resided for over 50 years. During that time, George also held roles at Honeywell and Merck Sharp & Dohme. It was also in Plymouth Meeting where George and Vivian became grandparents to 23 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and their beloved dog Mimi.

George had immense passion for his family, his church, biking, golfing, and travel. George was an exemplary father and human being who embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, strong work ethic and an unending generosity that included support for the American Cancer Society, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and funding of schools and churches across Nicaragua dedicated to his sisters Claire and Pat, and his daughter Wendi Ann. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for his pop-in visits, his eternal support, his generosity, his gregarious nature, and his impeccable sense of fashion. Throughout his life, George's greatest love remained his wife, Vivian. A true love story, the two walked hand in hand through 61 years of marriage. Their love was resolute. Together they celebrated family accomplishments, mourned heartbreaks, laughed, cried, and deeply loved. George and Vivian spent 61 years dancing at weddings, hosting family gatherings, cuddling grandchildren and loving one another. Through the years, the mutual love and respect the two had for one another continued to grow, a tribute to one another and an example to their ever-growing family.

George's departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound and is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved and respected him deeply across his wide network of community. The family appreciates your support during this challenging time. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 9:30AM -11:00AM at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E.
