ANNA MARIA DE SIMONE Anna Maria (Fantini) De Simone, died peacefully at her home in Trooper at 1:25 AM. Monday October 18, 2010, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family in loving care. Anna Maria, born in Fossacesia, Prov. of Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy, on July 16, 1931, was the daughter of Ernesto Fantini and Rosaria (Santeusanio) Fantini. She was 79. Anna Maria was the wife of Donato (Danny) De Simone, a former teacher at Bishop Kenrick High School, and frequent contributor to the Times Herald Op/Ed page. They were married fifty-four years. As children, Anna Maria and her husband, neighbors at the time, survived World War II, during which they were stalked by the Nazis, bombed by the Allies, and were forced on the move to escape death which lurked around every corner. Anna Maria risked her life one day, when two German soldiers shot her dog as it scampered next to her. In 1946, she decided not to continue her studies, given the difficult post-war conditions, and became a streamstress. In 1952, together with an aunt, Anna Maria founded Fantini Sposa, a successful emporium for bridal gown design. In 1956, she opted to marry and come to America, where she chose not to continue in the bridal gown business, preferring to remain at home to raise her four children, and support her husband in his pursuit of an educational career. She loved the personal freedom she enjoyed in her home in Trooper, where she took pleasure in her family and friends, immersed in her beloved nature. Besides her husband, Anna Maria is survived by a son, Francis and his wife Linda, of Buttonwood St., a daughter, Maria Pia De Simone-Natale and her husband Giovanni, of Italy; Rosanne De Simone, first grade teacher at Visitation BVM, and three grandsons, Massimiliano and Lorenzo Natale of Italy, and Anthony Chiaravalloti of East Norriton. Anna Maria's eldest son, Mario, died in 1996. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, October 21 from 7-9 PM and Friday, October 22 from 9:30 10:45 AM at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., PA. Funeral mass at 11:15 AM from Visitation BVM Church, 196 N Trooper Rd., Trooper, PA. Entombment St. Patrick's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeKalb Pike, E Norriton, PA.
