Anne (Papa) Vitabile

Anne Vitabile, of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at her home in the Normandy Farms Estates in the company of her loving family at the age of 94.  Born Anna Papa on January 7, 1932, in Queens, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Katherine Papa, and wife of the late Frank Vitabile.  In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her brother, Rudolph Papa.

Anne began her working career as an aide at the Norristown State Hospital; she would later go on to work for many years as a successful real estate agent until her retirement.  Anne involved herself in her community and dedicated herself to several groups and organizations including her local Nursing Mothers Club, the Literacy Council of Norristown, and served as past president of the Residents’ Association at Normandy Farms Estates.  She also took great joy in organizing and performing at the annual talent shows at Normandy Farms.  Anne was a prolific writer, having composed a widely varied collection of essays, poems, short stories, travelogues and newsletters.  She was blessed with a large family and cherished her time as a wife, mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to many. 

.Anne is survived by her five children from her first marriage to the late Joseph Chellew, Jr., including Joe Chellew, Steve Chellew, Frank Chellew, Kate Chellew, and John Chellew; five grandchildren, Megan, Nora, Luke, Karis and Nicolas.  She is also survived by her stepchildren, Fran Arniotes, Bill Vitabile; and step-grandchildren Alexa, Nick and Damon.

​Family and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Tuesday August 11, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 601 Buttonwood St. Norristown, PA 19401. A Funeral Mass for Anne will follow at 11:00 AM at the church.  Burial will take place privately at the Riverside Cemetery in Norristown, PA.
