Anthony H. Venezia (Tony), Jr. of Norristown, passed away peacefully on January 25th, at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Lori, and his beloved daughter, Samantha. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Rose (Orman) and the late Anthony Venezia, Sr., and his late brother, Richard, of Morgantown. Anthony is also survived by many cousins, nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
Mr. Venezia was born and raised in Norristown and attended local schools. He was a lifelong member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, as well as the weekend sacristan for over twenty years, serving under many pastors. He also volunteered at many parish events. Mr. Venezia worked in the construction industry, and in his spare time, enjoyed being an umpire for PIAA baseball. He served athletes of all different ages. More than anything, however, he enjoyed spending time with his family. They enjoyed traveling and exploring new cultures and historic sites. Mr. Venezia enjoyed visiting Europe, Alaska, and Bermuda, and made annual trips to Walt Disney World. In his free time, Mr. Venezia enjoyed cooking and completing home renovation projects. He could be found making meatballs and lasagna with his wife, or helping his daughter bake Christmas cookies. He strung nearly 10,000 outside lights and located an enormous tree to celebrate his daughter’s first Christmas! He also enjoyed spending time with his golden doodle puppy, Biscuit, who remained by his side until the end. The two were always walking, playing, and enjoying one another’s company. In fact, they were often found sharing freshly made pasta together!
Friends and family are welcome to honor Mr. Venezia’s life on Saturday, February 1, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Norristown. The viewing will occur from 9:30-11:00 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home at Last Rescue, or Mass cards would also be appreciated by the family.
