Anthony “Tony” Ordway, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Thursday September 21, 2023 at the Lankenau Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 1, 1955 in Chambersburg PA, he was the son of Cecil & the late Faye (Naugle) Ordway, and the loving husband of Sherry (Cain) Ordway for 45 years
As an avid sports fan, Tony played basketball, football, volleyball, American Legion baseball and loved skiing. Later in life he turned to coaching - first getting involved with the Norris Hills Girls' Softball League helping his mom, Faye. Tony then played a huge part in his children’s sports life as a coach of their soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball teams. Tony developed a passion for golf that led to many annual trips to the Carolinas and Florida and a membership at Blue Bell Country Club.
Tony was also a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan and even a season ticket holder of the 76ers for many years. He had a passion for music, especially the Grateful Dead, trekking around the country to see their shows. As a wine enthusiast, he made many trips to California for wine tasting. He also spent many summer vacations in Assateague, MD and Ocean City, NJ with family and friends. In his spare time Tony also had a knack for gardening and refurbishing furniture.
In addition to his father, and loving wife, Tony is survived by his two children, Shane (Cara Dombroski) Ordway, and Melanie (Nicholas Rassler) Ordway; Four siblings, Eric (Eileen) Ordway, John (Jennifer Troyan) Ordway, Dede Ordway, Judy (William) Johnston; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Faye.
Those who knew Tony will remember him as a dedicated husband, father, brother, son, coach, and friend; always willing to help with whatever was needed. He will be deeply missed as a relentless caretaker and protector for his family and friends.
Funeral services for Tony will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to the Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity International 322 West Lamar Street, Americus Georgia, 31709.
