Arthur "Art" E. Martin Obituary

Arthur (Art) E. Martin, 79, of Conshohocken, PA and Villas, NJ passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025 at his home with family by his side. Born on March 9, 1945 in Norristown, PA he was the son of the late Earl & Pauline (Puche) Martin, and the beloved husband of Nicolina (DiCamillo) Martin.

Art was a graduate of Holy Saviour School, and Bishop Kenrick High School class of 1962. During his educational career, Art attended Saint Joseph’s University where he would receive his undergraduate degree in history, and would finalize his education at Temple University with a Masters Degree in Education. Art worked for over 30 years for The Delaware County Intermediate Unit, where he taught special education, on the high school level. Also, he worked part time for Sacred Heart Hospital as a pharmacy tech. Art was also devoted to his faith and community, he was a dedicated parishioner of the SS. Cosmas & Damian Church in Conshohocken, as well as Holy Saviour Church, in Norristown. He dedicated his time to his community and church and was involved in The Holy Name Society. He dedicated countless hours at the SS. Cosmas & Damian Church feast every year, was a member of the Cursillo church meeting group, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and also taught CCD classes for many years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his wife on the Queen Street Beach in Cape May, NJ and their home in the Villas. Art also became very well-known in the Cape May community and would frequent local restaurants such as Cucina Rosa where he was known and loved by all. He enjoyed running and he ran in races in Cape May, Cape May Point, the Broad Street Run, the Philadelphia Distance Run, as well as completing the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, DC at the age of 47. Art was an avid traveler, traveling with his wife throughout the US and Canada and he especially enjoyed traveling by train. He and his wife traveled by train throughout Switzerland, Austria and Germany for their 10th wedding anniversary. Art was very proud of his Italian heritage and he made a memorable trip with his wife driving throughout Italy and Sicily for over 5 weeks. He dedicated countless hours prior to their trip learning the Italian language. Art also was devoted to his country and served proudly as a member of the United States Army Reserves from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1971. But most of all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his loving family, he was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and a dear friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His storytelling, knowledge of trivia, easy going manner and great sense of humor will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Art is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Martin; Sister-in-law, Elizabeth DiCamillo; Brother-in-law, Michael (Mary) DiCamillo; and six nieces and nephews, Tom (Vickie) DiCamillo, John (Serena) DiCamillo, Christopher DiCamillo, Adela (Joe) Sigismondo, Victoria (Miguel) Tapia, and Sophia DiCamillo.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Francis J. Martin.
