Bernard P Germano

Bernard P Germano, 85, in Norristown, PA on Sunday, February 8, 2009. Born in Conshohocken, PA, December 4, 1923, he was the husband of Marguerite (Volpe) DiRenzo Germano and son of the late Mary (Balsamo) and Dominic Germano. Mr. Germano was an insurance agent, owning his own business, BP Germano Insurance from 1966 until his retirement in 1988. The business is now owned by his daughters and operates as Sorella Insurance Services, Inc. He was also a member of the former Norristown and Blue Bell AMBUCS, PIA Group, Chamber of Commerce, and the SS Cosmas Club. Mr. Germano was a WW II Army veteran serving in the European Theater, and was a prison warden at the Nuremburg War Trials 1945-47. A longtime area resident, he had resided in Florida with his second wife for over 10 years, returning to the area in 1999, and had been a resident of the Regina Nursing Center since September 2007. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite (Volpe) DiRenzo Germano, of the Gywnedd Square Nursing Center; daughters, Barbara (Michael) Piotrowski, Plymouth Meeting, Denise (Louis, Jr.) Bernardini, Whitemarsh, Karen Trifiletti, Plymouth Meeting, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Toto) Germano in 1981 and 3 sisters. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday, February 13, 2009, from 9:30 am - 10:50 am at SS. Cosmas & Damian Church, 5th & Maple Sts., Conshohocken, PA. Memorial Mass 11:00 AM. Burial of his ashes will follow in Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 625 W Ridge Pike, Bldg. A100, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
