Carmella Durante

Carmella (Romanelli) Durante, 84, of Collegeville on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Montgomery Hospital. Born June 12, 1927 in Bridgeport, PA, she was the wife of the late Carmen Durante and daughter of the late Alphonso and Rose (Laspina) Romanelli. Mrs. Durante was a member of Visitation BVM Church, the Holy Saviour Sr. Citizens club, and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1182 Ladies Aux, where she was a past president. She was employed at St. Francis of Assisi Church rectory, where she was the cook and housekeeper for over 30 years, retiring in 2007. Survivors include daughters; Lenora (John) Glennon, and Renee Wacker, both of Collegeville, PA; Five siblings; Rose Scenna, of Trooper; Lucy (Charles) Saylor, of Collegeville; Antoinette (Gerald) Piccirilli, of Betzwood, PA; Alfonso (Linda) Romanelli, Jr., of Coatesville, PA; and Michael (Mary) Romanelli, Collegeville, PA; also seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Tschoepe, Jamie Glennon, Justin Glennon, Tavi Spurio, Jacquie Daly, Chrissy Wacker, and Cara Wacker; and four Great-Grandchildren; Sophia Spurio, Anthony Spurio, Hayden Tschoepe, and Avery Glennon. In addition to her spouse and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter; Joni Spurio-Daly; great-granddaughter Joni Tschoepe; and siblings: Mary Lagowski, Theresa Estock, Philomena D'Elia, and Dominick Romanelli. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, January 22, 2012 from 7 - 9 pm at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1100 W. Marshall Street, Norristown, PA. Mass will be held on Monday January 23, 2012 at 10:00am at the church with no prior viewing before service. Interment will follow at the St. Patrick's Cemetery, DeKalb Pike, E. Norriton, PA.
