Casper C. Prestia, 102, of Plymouth Meeting, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 12, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 5, 1922 in Norristown he was the son of the late Giovanni & Anna (Caparo) Prestia, and the beloved husband of the late Pauline (Lombardo) Prestia.
Mr. Prestia served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp where he served as a First Sergeant US Army Military Police until his honorable discharge in 1946. He would later go on to work for many years in the Norristown community and dedicated countless hours as a manager for the Norristown Rug Company, and the Plymouth Township Community Center until his retirement. Mr. Prestia was also involved in many local organizations such as the Plymouth Fire Company where he served as a fire police member, and the Knights Of Columbus where he was a 3rd Degree Knight. Mr. Prestia was also an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, farming, and also building bird houses, and tending to his cactus plants in his spare time. But most of all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a dear friend who will be missed by many.
Mr. Prestia is survived by his three loving children, John Prestia, of Whitehaven, Marie (George) Pletcher, of Bloomsburg, and Joe (Nina) Prestia, of Plymouth Meeting; he is also survived by his five grandchildren, Denise, Jennifer, Mark, John Michael, and Matthew; and eight great grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher, Alaina, Carter, Naomi, Natali, Tyler, and Taylor.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alphonso Prestia.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Mr. Prestia on Thursday evening December 19, 2024 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the Caramenico Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 403 E. Main St. Norristown, PA 19401. A viewing will also take place on Friday morning, December 20, 2024 from 9:30AM-10:30AM at the funeral home. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00AM at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown, PA 19401. Entombment will take place in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VA Association, (VA Coatesville Healthcare System) 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.
