Charles J. Tornetta

Charles J. Tornetta of Norristown, PA, and Somers Point, NJ,passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2025, surrounded by his wife and all four of his children. 

He will be remembered for his huge heart, infectious smile, and deep dedication to his family and friends, as well as the Sicilian community. He served as president of the Maria Santissima del Soccorso di Sciacca (MSS) Lodge for many years. During his time at the MSS Lodge, he left his mark not only on the hearts of all who knew him but also on the sister church in Sciacca, Sicily.

Charlie was a graduate of Bishop Kenrick High School, where he was the drum major of the marching band. After graduation Charlie started to work with computer systems and then transitioned to many successful years in sales of marketing aids; but these were secondary to his true love - music. Whether he was playing the trumpet, accordion, piano, or Hammond B3 organ, his talent and flair brought joy to those around him. He played in multiple bands in his spare time and produced music as well, bringing local group “The Markley Band” to national attention. In addition to music, Charlie was an avid golfer and fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State football.

Charlie is survived by his wife Valerie (née Welsh), daughters Theresa (Justin) Shepherd and Maria (Brian) Jones, sons Frank (Kylie) Tornetta and Nicholas Tornetta, and grandchildren Cambria, Anna, Charles, Emilia, Sebastian, and Isaac. He was also fortunate enough to have five “bonus” children and eight bonus grandchildren. He loved them all unconditionally.

Charlie is also survived by his sisters, Catherine (Paul) Pfanders and Frances (Russell) Panchelli and their families. His parents were the late Filomena (“Florence”) (née Picariello) and Frank Tornetta.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Charlie on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Caramenico Funeral Home, 403 E. Main Street, Norristown, PA 19401. A viewing will also be held on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown, PA 19401.  Mass will follow the viewing at 11:00 a.m. at the church.  If you would like to make a donation in Charlie’s memory, please consider the two charities he faithfully supported: Philabundance and Covenant House.
