Connie Gallo

Concetta E.M. Gallo died on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Mercy Suburban Hospital at the age of 65. A lifelong resident of Norristown, Connie was the daughter of the late Frances (Calamia) and Frank Gallo, and is survived by her uncle Michael Calamia; brothers and sisters-in-law Joseph F. (Sally); Ben M. (Adelaide); and Frank J. (Judy); nine nieces and nephews and their children; all of whom she loved dearly. She was a devout Catholic and found her happiness in helping others. Connie dedicated her life to teaching severely and profoundly disabled children. Beginning her student teaching at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, she was then hired as a full-time teacher in 1967 and devoted the next 40 years to teaching and caring for her students there with patience and love. Before retiring from MCIU in June 2007, Connie mentored countless student teachers to carry on the the important work about which she was so passionate. While working tirelessly at her demanding career, Connie also spent many years serving as her region's representative for the Regional and State Conferences of the PA State Education Assoc (PSEA) as well as the PA State Delegate for the National Education Assoc. (NEA) annual conventions. Her fellow delagates remember has as hardworking, dedicated and a 'real sweetheart.' Her years of service are greatly appreciated by her friends and associates. Connie loved to travel, having gone to Egypt and the Holy Land, as well as more locally to the Poconos and was an avid visitor to D.C. with all of its museums and national history. She never lost her child-like enthusiasm for Disney films, loving to draw and sketch in her free time. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM, at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Ntn., PA. Funeral Mass to follow at 10 AM. Burial St. Patrick's Cem., DeKalb Pk, E. Norriton., PA.
