Edward Vagnoni

Edward Vagnoni , 83, of Norristown formally of Wilmington De. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Montgomery Hospital, Norristown, PA. Born September 30, 1928 in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Edith (Taglioli) Vagnoni. He was born and raised in Norristown where he graduated from Norristown High School. He lived in Wilmington DE since 1954 until his recent return to Norristown to be with his family. After serving in the Army in Japan during the Korean war, and receiving a commendation metal.. He attended the Philadelphia College of Art and continued his studies for more than 50 years at the Fleisher Art Memorial where he studied drawing and sculpture. In 2007 he showed his drawings at the Dupree Gallery, Philadelphia. He worked at Reese & Thomas, Terry Casey and Associates and finally DeMartin-Marona-Cranston & Downes Associates in Wilmington De. He was a member of Toastmasters chapter in Valley Forge, PA for 50 years. He volunteered at the Wilmington Library and Winterthur Museum. He was famous among his family and friends for his intricate hand made Christmas cards. He was a long time subscriber to the Philadelphia Orchestra, The Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Ballet. and attended the theater regularly. In his work, he was a great draftsman and technician. He strove for perfection in everything he did. He loved the Arts, He loved his family and friends, he loved Life. He is survived by His sister-in-law Marie Vagnoni, Uncle Charles DeLuca Sr., his great niece Crystal Vagnoni, and extended family of great nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and niece Kathleen. Friends and family will be received on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 9-10:45 am, at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., PA. His funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Saviour Church at 11 am. Burial will be held in the St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fleisher Art Memorial 719 Catharine Street Philadelphia, PA 19147.
