Frank Puia

Frank P. Puia, 89, of Norristown, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Venezia) Puia, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage. Born May 12, 1922 in Ambler, PA, he was the loving son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Ciliberto) Puia. Frank was the loving and cherished father and grandfather to Frank, Jr. (Kerry) of Paoli, Maryjane (Luigi) Palatano of Plymouth Meeting, and Karen (Pasquale) Carbone of Upper Gwynedd, with whom he most recently resided, and his seven grandchildren Joseph, Stephanie, and Alexa Palatano, David and Ryan Carbone, and Madison and Austin Puia. The oldest of twelve, he is also survived by his beloved siblings George (Theresa) Puia, Sue Rocco, Elizabeth Polidori, Phyllis (Joe) Talese, Edith Morrow, and sister-in-law Margaret (late Victor). He was preceded in death by Anthony (Tut), Angelo, James, Salvatore, Victor, and Angelina. Frank served his country in World War II from 1943-1945 in the European theater (Italy) with the 350th Infantry, 88th Division under General Clark, and was decorated with 4 bronze stars upon being honorably discharged in 1945. He worked for the US Postal Service, in Wayne, PA until his retirement in 1987. He also worked at Krylon, Inc. in Norristown, and Unisys in Blue Bell for many years. Frank's happiest times were spent enjoying his loving wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting his family every Sunday and taking trips to the casinos. He was an avid reader and enjoyed following his favorite sports, football, baseball, and golf, and eventually developed a liking for soccer. He was a member of the Holy Saviour Senior Citizens'. Mass will be held at Holy Saviour Church in Norristown, PA 19401 at 10:00am January 18th, 2012. Friends and family will be received at the Caramenico Funeral Home, Inc. Main and Walnut Street, Norristown, PA from 8:15am to 9:45am prior to mass. Interment will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery immediately following the service.
