Gerardo Granese

Gerardo Granese, 84, of Norristown on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born October 29, 1926 in Montella, Prov. Avelino, Italy, he was the son of the late Anna (Schiavo) and Liodoro Granese, and husband of Rosa (Santoro) Granese. Mr. Granese was a metal machinist and department manager for Landys Gyr Company, of Burn, Switzerland, employed in Moret, Switzerland, where they resided from 1953 - 64; then back to Montella for a year; then to Salerno, Italy until 1971 all with Landys Gyr. He and his family immigrated to the Norristown area in 1971 and he began working for Victory Metals, in the same field, for over 22 years retiring in 1993. He was also employed for over 10 years with Conshohocken Bakery, owned by Dominic Gambone. While in Italy he was involved with the Catholic Youth Assn. and the Congregation Annuziata; and was also a soccer enthusiast, with the Naples team his favorite. He is survived by children: Liodoro Granese of Norristown, PA; Salvatore (Jane) Granese of Beachwood, NJ; Lucio (Barbara) Granese of Norristown, PA; Maria (Carlo) Petrillo of Norristown, PA; Dolores (Edward) Higley of Collegeville, PA; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter; and siblings: Ezio Granese of Imola, Bologna, Italy; Salvatore (Gina) Granese of Montella, Avelino, Italy; Rocco (Suzi) Granese of Naples, Italy; Elenora (Rinaldo) DelliGatti of Montella, Avelino, Italy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Carmelo Granese and sister Giuseppina DelliGatti. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 9 - 9:50 am at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Ntn., PA, with funeral Mass to follow at 10 am. Entombment St. Patrick's Cem. Mausoleum, E Norriton, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Holy Saviour Church at the above address.
