John J Giaimo

John J. Giaimo, 93, of Plymouth Meeting, at his home on Friday, November 5, 2010. Born July 12, 1917 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Anne (Mandrachia) and Jerome Giaimo, and husband of Mary A. (Mirabile) Giaimo. Mr. Giaimo was a retired supervisor with the former Mirabile Beverage Co, in their Bucks Co. division, a WW II Naval veteran with the rank of Chief PhM2c, serving over 8 years in the PTO Guam and receiving the following medals: Victory, Good Conduct, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, 2 stars, and the American area ribbon, and was also involved with the reunion committee of the USS J Franklin Bell. He was a former East Norriton Lion, Bridgeport VFW, and 17 yr Republican committeeman. He was a fundraiser for MARC, an avid gardner at one time having planted over 500 tomato plants and making sure all had enough when the harvest came in. He was also a coin collector and teamster member local #830. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: John (Phyllis) Giaimo, Sr. of E. Norriton, PA, Nina (Robert) Sokol of Skippack, PA, grandson, John A. Giaimo, Jr., and sisters Theresa (Frank) Carchedi of Norwood, MA, Josephine Giaimo of E Norriton, PA, and many nieces nephews and their children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Anthony and Alfonso Giaimo. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 6 - 8 pm Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 9 - 10 am both at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Ntn., PA. Funeral Mass will follow at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 5 Valley Square, 512 Township Line Rd., Suite 103, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
