John Adam Rakowski Obituary

John Adam Rakowski, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday January 24, 2025.  John was born July 23, 1942 in Norristown, he was the son of John Adam Rakowski, Sr. and Mildred (Wright) Rakowski. He was the loving husband of Lynn (Paschall) Rakowski.

John grew up in Conshohocken. He attended Conshohocken High School and upon graduation served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1960 to 1963.  Upon discharge, John attended Saint Joseph’s College in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University with a degree in Business Administration.

In June of 1967 he married his wife, Lynn at St. Patrick Church in Norristown. They celebrated their 57th anniversary on June 17, 2024.  John was a loving and devoted father to his two children and six grandchildren.  He was generous to many charitable organizations. He was a kind and faithful friend. Many of his friends he’s known more than 50 years and would see or speak with regularly.

John was employed by State Farm Insurance in Springfield, PAas an underwriter in auto insurance. John and Lynn later moved to Bloomington, Il where he worked at the regional and then corporate offices. He attained professional insurance designations from the American College in Philadelphia of CPCU, CLU and CHFC. Upon his retirement, John had worked for State Farm for 35 years and held the position of Assistant Vice President of Property and Casualty insurance.  At retirement, John and Lynn relocated to Florida. First living in Fort Myers and currently residing in Bonita Springs.

John loved to play golf, enjoyed fine wine, good food and loved to travel.  He and Lynn traveled both within the United States and in Europe.  They often traveled with close friends and were particularly fond of taking cruises.

In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by his children, Jeanne (Joseph) Mondschean, John (Emily) Rakowski; Six grandchildren, Joe (Marina) Mondschean, Jake Mondschean, Justin Mondschean, Eli Rakowski, Sam Rakowski, and Micah Rakowski. John is also survived by his siblings, David (Pat) Rakowski and Cindy (Rich) Tierney. 

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for John on Wednesday February 12, 2025, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the St Patrick Church, 714 Dekalb St, Norristown, PA 19401. Mass will follow the viewing for John at 10:30AM at the church. Burial will take place in the St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, Pa., immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls 1140 W.
