Joseph C DeStefano, 84, of Norristown died on Saturday, September 3, 2011, after a short illness at the Rittenhouse Pine Nursing Center, Norristown, PA. Born September 27, 1926 in Bridgeport, PA, he was the son of the late Rose (Branca) and Gaetano DeStefano, and husband of Anna (Catanzaro) DeStefano, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June 16th. Mr. DeStefano was a longtime member of Holy Saviour Church and active with the Senior Citizens group; lifetime member of the Bridgeport Triple S Club; a graduate of the former Bridgeport HS class of 1944, where he was quarterback of the undefeated 1943 team; a WW II Army veteran, 103rd Infantry, receiving the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), the good conduct medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, Philippine Liberation ribbon with one bronze star and the WWII victory ribbon. He was employed for over 33 years with Diamond State, retired from Gordon Mfg. in 1986, in the shipping department of both companies. He also worked part-time for the former Chico Beverage. Survivors include 2 sons: Joseph M DeStefano, of West Norriton; David A. (Victoria) DeStefano, of Leesport, PA; former daughter in law, Ellen DeStefano, of Glenside; 3 grandchildren Michelle Christina, David J., and Joseph E. DeStefano; siblings: Michael DeStefano, King of Prussia; Salvatore (Rita) DeStefano, Bridgeport; Daniel (Rosemarie) DeStefano, Jeffersonville; Albert (Linda) DeStefano, Limerick; Anthony (Bobett) DeStefano, Conshohocken; Carmen (Joan) DeStefano, Norristown; Anna Amato, Bridgeport; Rita Granese, East Norriton; and Marie (Vincent) Bono, Norristown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence and Angelo DeStefano. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 from 8:45 - 9:45 am, at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Norristown, PA with Mass to follow at 10 am. Entombment St. Patrick's Cemetery Mausoleum, E. Norriton, PA.
