Joseph Ruth

Joseph Ruth, 80, a retired educator, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Montgomery Hospital, Norristown, PA. Born in Pottsville, PA, December 23, 1929, he was the husband of the late Barbara (Orum) and son of the late Lenore (Ruth) Jones. He is survived by daughters Nancy (Jim) Young, of Silver Springs, MD, and Pamela (Barry) Ohler, of Worcester, PA. Grandchildren: Nicole (Jeff) Bocook, Candace (Jonathan) Logan, Barbara Young, James (Lilly) Young, and Barry K Ohler Jr. Mr. Ruth was a health and physical education teacher for the NASD for over 20 years, in addition to being the wrestling coach for over 17 years. He graduated NAHS class of 1947, graduated class of 1959 from the former West Chester State Teachers College, now known as West Chester University, and received his masters in education from Cabrini College in 2007. He was extremely proud of his military service, being a member of the US Marine Corp, and serving in the Korean War. He also had the honor of being on the presidential guard for the inauguration of former President Harry S. Truman. Mr. Ruth was a sports enthusiast participating in many local clubs and organizations involved with golfing, bowling, tennis, skiing, and of course wrestling, and loved spending as much time as possible with his family. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 27, from 12 - 2 PM with funeral services at @ 2PM at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., PA. Interment to follow at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA. The family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to the SPCA of Montgomery County, 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
