Joseph C Verruni

Joseph C. Verruni, 92, of Plymouth Meeting on Thursday, October 13, 2011, at his residence. Born February 19, 1919 in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Marietta (Spadaccini) and Luigi Verruni, and the late Assunta "Sue" (Iannelli) Verruni. Mr. Verruni was a jewelry and clock maker, working for the Wayne Jewelers for over 40 years, retiring in 1999. In addition he worked part time for the Koehlers Jewelry store in Lansdale. He was a long time member and choir director for Holy Saviour Church for over 72 years. In addition he was a drummer with the local musicians union. He was WWII Army veteran, serving with the 5th Air Force, Pacific Theatre, 90th Bomb Group, 320th squadron, also know as the Jolly Rogers. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post # 1182, Plymouth Township K of C, JFK Council # 4153. Mr. Verruni attended the following watch making schools, Phila. College of Horology and The Baronian School Inc. Survivors include children; Joseph (Claire) Verruni, of Wall Twp., NJ; Susan (Gordon) Heidt, of Audubon, NJ; Marietta (Mike) Quigg, of Lansdale, PA; 3 Grandchildren; Colin (Taylor) Quigg and Joseph Jr. and Katherine Verruni; Sister, Millie DiFilippo, of Jeffersonville, PA. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 4 siblings; Anthony, Louis, Sam, and Kate Crognale. Family will receive relatives and friends on Sun. Oct. 16 from 6-8pm and Mon. Oct. 17, 8- 9:15 am, at the Caramenico FH Inc. Main & Walnut Streets, Ntn, PA. Funeral Mass at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St. Norristown, PA on Mon. at 9:30 am. Internment St. Patrick's Cem. East Norriton, PA.
