Kathryn R Rooney

Kathryn (Roberts) Rooney, age 83, died peacefully on December 16, 2012. She was born on January 19, 1929, in Abington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Margaret (Brown) and John Franklin Roberts. Kathryn graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Chestnut Hill College with a business degree. While working at Standard Pressed Steel, she met and married Patrick Rooney with whom she had seven children. He preceded her in death in 2008 and they were married for 52 years. She had a successful career at Chestnut Hill Hospital and she retired from Montgomery County Community College where she worked in the human resources and benefit department. Known as Kitty to her friends and Mom-Mom to her family, she was the epitome of motherhood. Besides her seven children, she had nine grandchildren on whom she doted. She loved to shop especially for antiques, having lunch with friends, travel, spend time at the shore, and research the family ancestry. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always kept everyone aware of what was going on in everyone's lives. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and generous demeanor that won the hearts of everyone she interacted with. Her signature smile, laughter, sense of fun, and loving disposition will never be forgotten. Kitty was a generous person who volunteered her time at Grand View Hospital weekly. She also contributed to many charities. One of her greatest demonstrations of love was finding her husband's lost WWII buddies which resulted in an emotional reunion after 40 years. Kitty is survived by her children Patrick, Liz Gamelier (Paul), Dan, Tim (LeeAnn), Nancy Camasso (Dave), Kate Oechsner (Louis), and Chris; and grandchildren Kylie, Alissa, Logan, Sean, Maeve, Tess, Jake, Dylan, and Claudia. Friends and family will be received on Thursday evening, December 20, 2012 from 7-9pm at the Caramenico Funeral Home Inc., Main & Walnut Streets., Norristown, PA and Friday morning December 21, 2012, from 9-9:50am at St. Patrick's Church, 714 DeKalb Pk., Norristown, PA. Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maryknoll Sisters, P.O Box 317, Maryknoll, NY 10545.
