Maria Carmela (Ambla) Toscano

Maria Carmela (Ambla) Toscano, 100, of Plymouth Meeting, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 24, 2024 at the Markley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.  Born on May 27, 1923 in Menfi, Sicily she was the daughter of the late Ignazio & Leonarda (Pendola) Ambla, and the loving wife of the late Armando Toscano. 

Maria was born in Menfi, Sicily, and would later move to the United States in March of 1966 to give her family a better life.  She would eventually settle in Norristown and during  her time she worked for many years as a seamstress for Louis Goldsmith to provide for her family until her retirement.  In her spare time, Maria loved to sew and crochet whenever she had the opportunity. She would also enjoy taking occasional trips with her family and friends to the casino.  Maria loved to tend to her vegetable garden as well as her flowers. Maria was also an excellent cook and would host dinner at her home every Sunday to bring her family together; her generosity and kindness were unmatched, and she was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. But most of all she cherished the time she was able to spend with her beloved family, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and a dear friend, to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and she will be missed by many.

Maria is survived by her five children, Enza (Giuseppe) Monte, Dina (Antonio) Roberto, Felice (Joanne) Toscano, Ignazio (Barbara) Toscano, Antonella (the late Salvatore Morello) Raieta; Three siblings,  Italia, Umberto, and Vitina; Maria is also survived by ten loving grandchildren, Dora, Vito, Teresa, Phillip, Maria, Salvatore, Armando, Michela, Jennifer, and Armando; Seventeen great grandchildren; And two great-great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Felice Toscano; And her siblings, Peppino, Nene, Benni, Giovanna, Mimmo, and Franca.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Maria on Friday March 1, 2024 from 8:30AM-10:00AM at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown, PA 19401.  Mass will follow the viewing at 10:00AM at the church. Entombment will take place in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery Mausoleum, East Norriton.
