Mary Carpani Obituary

Mary (Barone) Carpani, 87 of West Norriton, on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Jefferson University Hospital in Phila., Pa., born on August 6, 1922, Mrs. Carpani was the widow of Mario "Chick" Carpani and the daughter of the late Maria Corrao and Ignazio Barone. Mary hosted many years of holiday dinners and parties of all occasions. Announced or unannounced, Mary was ready to feed a crowd. But her contributions in her life reached beyond her family and to the community around her. As a modern businesswoman and seamstress, she opened her first bridal salon in Norristown in 1961… Modern Bridal Shoppe. She later opened a second location in the brand new King of Prussia Plaza. For 29 years, she made dreams come true for thousands of women as they dressed and prepared for the most important day of their lives. Mary often dressed the next generation of brides. Her family and friends respected her as a poised, caring, and energetic woman. Married to Mario Carpani for 63 years. Their relationship was an inspiration to her family and shaped the childhood of her grandchildren. Her memory will remain vivid as her life story is passed down to her great-grandchildren. Mary was a lifelong member of Holy Saviour Church and was a member of the Norristown Catholic War Veterans, the Holy Saviour Senior Citizens Group, and the M.S.S. Lodge, where she was a past President of the Women's Auxiliary. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Carpani was predeceased by a sister, Antoinette Gulotta and a brother, Paul Barone. Surviving is a daughter, Deborah (Wayne) Meierdiercks of West Norriton; five brothers: Joseph, Frank (Toni), Charles (Nan), Samuel (Gloria), and Anthony (Dawn) Barone, all of Norristown; two sisters: Josephine Collins of King of Prussia, and Anna Barone of Norristown; also two grandchildren, Ian (Constance) Meierdiercks and Hilary (Eric) Duvauchelle, and three great grandchildren, Lucia and Nina Meierdiercks and Myla Duvauchelle, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main Street, Norristown, Pa. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment to follow at St. Patrick's Mausoleum, East Norriton Township.
