Mary A. (Durso) Epifanio Obituary

Mary A. (Durso) Epifanio, 96, of Norristown passed away peacefully on Thursday September 4, 2025 at the Einstein Medical Center Montgomery surrounded by her loving family.  Born on January 14, 1929 in Wayne, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Louis & Viola (Pellicciotti) Durso, and the beloved wife for over 62 years to the late Joseph Epifanio.

Mary was a graduate of Radnor High School class of 1947 where she was a decorated athlete and played many sports such as field hockey and basketball.  In 1953  she married Joe and settled in the Norristown area, where they raised their three children.  She later became a teacher’s aide and worked in the Norristown Area School District at the former Gotwals Elementary School for over 25 years until her retirement. Mary and her husband were also dedicated parishioners of  Holy Saviour Church.  She was involved in many community and church organizations such as the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Sodality, and the Senior Citizens Club. But most of all she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and a dear friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her and she will be missed by many.

Mary is survived by her three loving children, Victoria (The late Michael Anthony Angelucci who passed away in November of 2024), Mary Ellen (Stephen) Tomaine, and Rebecca (Francis) DePaul; three grandchildren, Anthony (Amanda) Tomaine, Nicholas (Frances) Tomaine, and Rachael DePaul.  Mary is also survived by her beloved great grandchildren, Chase DePaul, Emilina Tomaine and Viola Tomaine; two sisters, Giovina (the late Robert) Hamilton, and Patricia (the late Roy) Lamberson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Durso.

Our family would like to thank Silver Lining Home Care and Sonia Gooden who took such good care of our mother for the last two years.
