Robert J. Schwenk, 83, of Norristown, PA died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Montgomery Hospital. Born in Norristown, PA he was the husband of Frances (Genuardi) and son of the late Florence (Klehamer) and Ralph Schwenk. A resident of Trooper, PA since 1985, he retired from the US Postal service with over 30 years and had run the Gywnedd Post office for 17 years. He graduated from Norristown HS and attended Wofford College, Spartansburg, SC as an Air Force Cadet. He served in the Army Air Force in Saipan in the 500th Bomb Squad of the 20th Air Force on a lead bomber of B-29's. After the war was over, he dropped supplies to US servicemen held as prisoners of war by Japan. An avid family man, he enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening and crabbing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: Robert Schwenk, of Trooper, Sharon Carroll, of Trooper, Donna (Jim) Varvaris, of Oaks, grandchildren Amanda, Christopher, and Timothy Carroll, brother William Schwenk, and brother in law, Vincent 'Jiim' Genuardi, of Jeffersonville.
