Robert G. Houser

Robert G. Houser, 84, of Schwenksville passed away on Thursday July 2, 2026 at his residence.  Born on March 27, 1942he was the son of the late John “Jack” William Houser & Louise M. (Maier) Houser, and the beloved husband of the late Maria (Fusco) Houser.

Robert grew up in Willow Grove but traveled every Summer to a different National Park. They visited every contiguous State during his youth, He loved exploring, camping and hunting with his two bird dogs, He told funny stories of the adventures he and his two brothers had at home (almost blowing up the family garage experimenting assisting older brother and his toy chemistry kit) and on the road building forts and rafts while camping.  He was on the track team in high school at Cardinal Doc, excelling at hurdles. Bobbie as he was called in youth, always worked, most interestingly, at the “guess your wife / girlfriends age and weight” gamble game for Willow Grove Park which he did starting at age 15 as an apprentice guesser working his way up to lead guesser. 

Robert graduated from Villanova University with a BE in Electrical Engineering. Robert followed his dad to NADC as an intern and spent his entire career as a Civilian Engineer for the United States Navy developing anti-submarine technology throughout the Cold War.

Robert met Maria (Fusco) on a double date set up by his frat brother who was dating her close friend.  They all remained friends through old age. Maria and Bob married on August 21, 1965, and together they raised a beautiful family. Robert obtained his master’s in engineering attending night school during those early family years. He was a skilled builder taught by his dad, in carpentry, electrical and plumbing. He built the family home on what they affectionately called “The Land”, Bob enjoyed home projects so much he started a small fixit business after retirement. He loved the challenge of solving a construction problem and reveled in tool talk. Robert also took up golf in his retired years, playing in a senior league with his cousins and other family and friends.

Most of all Bob the builder adored his grandchildren and cherished time spent with them. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a kind friend to many, He was a dedicated Catholic who served on St. Mary’s council for many years.  

Robert is survived by his children, Kristin R. (David) Warner, their children, Zachary, Jessica and Rachel; Robert C. (Shelly) Houser, and their children John, Jesse and Christopher; Keith D. (Sulakshana) Houser, and their children, Neil and Kirin; and Matthew J. (Susan) Houser, and their children, Joseph and Timothy. Robert is also survived by his younger brother, David Houser.

In addition to his parents and his beloved (wife) Maria he was preceded in death by his older brother, John “Jack” Houser.

Family and friends are invited to attend the services for Bob / G-Bob on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the St. Mary's R.C. Church, 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville, PA. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:45AM - 11:00AM with Mass to follow at 11:00AM. Interment will take place alongside his wife in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, DeKalb Pike, E. Norriton, PA.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation (t2t.org).
