Russell Lewis Buckwalter, 82, of Audubon passed away peacefully at his home on Friday April 18, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 31, 1943 in Phoenixville Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Lewis S. Buckwalter & Kathryn E. (Burgents) Buckwalter, and the loving husband of Gail Buckwalter.
Mr. Buckwalter was dedicated to his country and served proudly as a member of the United States Air Force from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965. Mr. Buckwalter operated the family business an Exxon Station in Audubon PA where he worked as Master Mechanic. Would later go on to work in the healthcare industry for over 30 years, Service Master and The Little Sisters of the poor, Genesis Healthcare until his retirement. For many years Russell devoted his free time to Leading and or volunteering with Boy Scout Troop 573 out of St. Andrews Lutheran Church ,in his spare time Russell was an avid reader and enjoyed many different novels and stories. He also would travel to various places to find antiques and vintage items that he would collect, and when he wasn't in search of antique items, you could find Russell meticulously tending to his garden ,watching the Phillies and keeping up with the leader board of the latest Golf Tournament ,with a cold beverage in his hand. Russell was also an avid traveler to the islands and would do so with his beloved wife whenever he had the opportunity. But most of all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his loving family, he was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a dear friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be missed by many.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Buckwalter is survived by his daughter, Amy Buckwalter Kasopsky, wife of Adam; Grandchildren, Matthew & James Kasopsky; Stepchildren, Nneka Williams; Step grandchildren, Anaya Coleman, and Mihayla Lopez; Mr. Buckwalter is also survived by his three nephews, David Jr,(Elise) Gary(Carrie), and Todd (Cindy)Buckwalter, and his great nieces and nephews, Lauren ,Caryn & David and a host of beloved family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother David Buckwalter Sr. ,beloved son, Mark Buckwalter, and his step grandson, Christopher Brown.
Family and friends are invited to attend the committal services for Mr. Buckwalter on Thursday May 1, 2025 at precisely 10:30AM at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd. Newtown PA. Full military honors will be rendered for Mr. Buckwalter at the conclusion of the services.
