Russell William Montalbano

Russell William Montalbano, 91, of Collegeville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family and a trusted caretaker. Born on August 19, 1933, in Norristown, he was the son of the late Russell & Lillian (Morello) Montalbano, and the beloved husband of the late Theresa Montalbano (Viola).

Russell served his country proudly by enlisting as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He later went on to launch his own business, Montco Packaging, in the basement of his house in Norristown that eventually expanded to a warehouse in Phoenixville. Russell operated Montco Packaging into his 80s, turning his customers into lifelong friends along the way. His son-in-law and daughter Teresa continue running the family business to this day. Russell also served his community as a councilman in Norristown and later president of the borough council in the 1980s for 10 years. He and his wife enjoyed spending their leisure time having dinners with friends and going to the Jersey Shore, where they eventually bought a second home. They also were both devoted members of Holy Saviour Church in Norristown. In his later years, Russell became an attentive and loving grandfather, devoting himself to his
four grandchildren and amassing a beloved extended family of friends and loved ones by his enthusiastic participation in their lives. Russell was known for his kind heart and generosity of
both material wealth and spirit. He was always quick to pick up the check at dinner, do a favor for a friend or family member, or strike up a chat with a stranger. He was beloved by many and
will be greatly missed.

Russell is survived by his two loving children, Teresa (Michael) Della Donna, and Elizabeth (Vasco Ferreira) Montalbano. Russell also survived by his four beloved grandchildren, Matthew,
Christopher, Nicolas, and Sarah Della Donna; and his brother, Thomas Montalbano. In addition to his parents and wife, Russell was preceded in death by his siblings, Sebastian (Beverly)
Montalbano, and Joseph (Roseanne) Montalbano.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Russell on Sunday May 4, 2025, from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown, PA 19401. A viewing will also take place on Monday May 5, 2025, from 9:00AM-10:00AM at the church. Mass will follow the viewing at 10:00AM. Burial for Mr. Montalbano will take place in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Russell to the Holy Saviour Church.
