Salvatore Genova, IV

Salvatore Genova, 85 yearsw of age of East Norriton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his living family on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 4:20 PM at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital - Hospice Center in Darby, PA. Sam worked 37 years as a meat manager for the Food Fair and Pathmark supermarkets, retiring in 1981. He was born in Reading, PA on January 9, 1926, a son of the late Salvatore and Rose (Capizzi) Genova. He was raised in Norristown and has resided in East Norriton for the past 25 years. He graduated from Norristown High School, class of 1943, and was a US Army veteran of WWII serving with the 100th infantry division and was awarded the Bronze Star award for meritorious achievement in ground combat against the enemy during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern theater of operations. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and served his community with the Knights of Columbus, JFK Council 4153, the Lions Club and Holy Saviour Church. He loved golf, bowling, his grandchildren and his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Helene (Crozier) Genova in 1993 and the loving husband of Angie (Gatto) Calpino. He is survived by his sons, Salvatore (Sam) J. of Norristown; Jospeh J., of Long Beach, CA; daughter Linda (John) Burt, of Barto, PA; step-sons Joe and Billy Calpino, of Reading, PA; brother Frank (Marie), of Framingham, MA; sister, Lillian (Jack) Monteleone, of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren: Michelle (Todd) Cavalaro, Lancaster, PA; Thomas Burt, Limerick, PA; Amanda (Jameson) Grubb, of Coatesville, PA; Sam (Sammy) Genova, of Coatesville; Allison Genova, of Parville, MA; and great-granddaughter Avery Rose Cavalaro. His memorial mass will be held at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St., Ntn., PA 19401 on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at 11 AM. Burial of his cremains in St. Patrick's Cemetery, E. Norriton, PA will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday morning after 10 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to Holy Saviour Church at the above address.
