Samuel Carfagno

Samuel Carfagno, 96, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at Parkhouse Providence Point, Royersford, PA where he had been residing since February. Born in Ambler, PA, he was the husband of 74 years to Anna (Salamone) and son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Marinari) Carfagno. Mr. Carfagno was a barber for most of his life. He did his apprenticeship with James Gianini of Conshohocken from 1920 - 25, also worked for a time with Frank Tancredi and Thomas Johnson until starting his own shop. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, John F. Kennedy Council #4153, belonged to the Assoc. of Barbers, the Mt. Carmel Lodge, Men of Malvern - Our Lady's Group, and longtime member of Holy Saviour Parish. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Johanna Dougherty, Jeffersonville, PA; Marie (Barry) Jamison, Conshohocken, PA; 4 Grandchildren & 6 Great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Salvatore, James, Charles Carfagno, Augustus Capperella, Rose Twasta and Carmella Almeidia. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 19, 2009, from 9:30 - 10:45 am at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., PA with Funeral Mass to follow at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Norristown PA, at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, E. Norriton, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Montgomery Hospice, 25 W. Wood Street, Ntn., PA 19401.
