Vincent J Evangelist, Sr.

Victor J. Evangelist, Sr., 102, formerly of Norristown, in Palm Bay, FL at his residence. Born July 7, 1908, he was the son of the late Michael and Sarah (Riogrande) Evangelist and husband of the late Marion P.(Logrip) Evangelist. Mr. Evangelist was a longtime former Norristown area resident, and had resided in Collegeville prior to moving to Florida in Dec. 2009 to live with his daughter. He was a member of Holy Saviour Church, the LAM-Valley Forge Lodge 1776 OSIA, where he was active in the former LAM baseball teams, playing pitcher and shortstop for 9th Ward Cardinals, in addition to playing softball for the former MBA and Polish Eagle clubs. Also an original member of the Verdi Band, playing the alto horn. He retired in 1973 after 37 years working as a fabric cutter and bias operator for the former Lee Tire Co. Survivors include 5 children: Victor (Carmella) Evangelist, Jr., of Norristown, Sarah Ann (Tom) Murphy, of Lancaster, Daniel Evangelist, of Collegeville, Mary Bates, of Cathedral City, CA, Rose Ann (Tom) Kirby, of Palm Bay, FL; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings: Angelo, Anthony, Nando, Natalia, Dominic, and Rose Sylvester; grandson Robert Bates; and daughter in law Patricia (Paschall) Evangelist. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 9:30 - 10:45 am at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., PA. His funeral Mass will follow at 11 am from Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Ntn., PA, which will be celebrated by his nephew, Msgr. Joseph Logrip. Street Norristown PA. Burial St. Patrick's Cem, E. Norriton., PA.
