Vincent J Maggio

Vincent J. Maggio, Sr., 69, of East Norriton, PA died Monday, April 27, 2009 at his residence after an illness. He was the husband of Lynne (Knetlar) and son of the late Lillian (Venezia) and Charles Maggio, and his first wife, the late Loretta (Nave) Maggio. Survivors include his spouse, Lynne (Knetlar) Maggio; son, Vincent J. Maggio Jr., of Norristown; daughter, Leah (Joseph R., III) Hastings, of Collegeville; grandchildren, Ericka & Joseph R. Hastings IV; siblings: Charles (Roseanne) Maggio, of Pottstown; Frances Ann 'Sandy' (Andrew) Green, of Mechanicsburg; Rosemary DiYenno, of Collegeville; and sister in law, Marlene Maggio, of Plymouth Meeting; and many nieces and nephews. A former Moore Sr. resident, he was a graduate of the first class of the former Bishop Kenrick High School in 1958, and a Marine Corp veteran serving during the Vietnam War. During HS, he worked for Gilberts Clothing Store, then after returning from the war he was a buyer for Gimbels, then he returned to Gilberts where he eventually bought the store on Main Street and another store in the Hillcrest Shopping Center. The stores were finally closed after 118 years in 1988. Afterwards, he was self employed in many entrepreneurial ventures. Most recently, he had been employed with Lou's Steakshop, on E. Main St. on the sales register for the last 8 years. He was a longtime MSS club and Holy Saviour Church member. He loved his family and going to the shore. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Maggio. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 30, 2009, from 7 - 9 pm & Friday, May 01, 2009, 8:30 - 9:15 am at the Caramenico FH Inc., Main & Walnut Sts., Ntn., PA. Funeral Mass will follow at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E Main St., Norristown PA at 9:30 AM. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, E Norriton Twp., PA.
